Volleyball Calgary was established in 2024 to provide an accessible and community-focused alternative to the high-cost, high-stress environment often associated with traditional club volleyball. Founded by Luc Tremblay, a seasoned leader in grassroots volleyball development, Volleyball Calgary builds on the success of the Winnipeg Minor Volleyball Association (WMVA), which he launched in 1999 and later rebranded as Volleyball Winnipeg in 2018. With over 3,200 athletes participating in the 2023-2024 season in Winnipeg, Luc is eager to bring his proven approach to the Calgary volleyball community.
Volleyball Calgary is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable, high-quality youth volleyball programs. Our focus is on fostering a positive, inclusive, and low-pressure environment where athletes can develop their skills, grow their confidence, and fall in love with the game. By emphasizing fun, personal development, and teamwork over intense competition, we aim to make volleyball accessible to everyone—regardless of experience or skill level.
As we embark on this new chapter, Volleyball Calgary is committed to delivering the same level of program excellence and community engagement that has made Volleyball Winnipeg a cornerstone of Manitoba’s volleyball scene. Whether you’re looking for your first introduction to the sport or a place to develop skills in a supportive environment, Volleyball Calgary is here to help every athlete reach their full potential.
Join us as we build a brighter future for youth volleyball in Calgary—one athlete, one program, and one game at a time.
Volleyball Calgary offers a range of programs designed for youth development, allowing athletes to build their skills from the ground up, regardless of their starting point.
Empowering Young Athletes
The Volleyball Calgary Youth Academy caters to young athletes ages 7-11, using modified equipment (lighter balls and various throwing balls) to make the game more accessible to young volleyball enthusiasts.
Ideally, the game is played on badminton courts, but training can be held on full-size courts as needed. Children can enjoy early successes and grow their confidence under the guidance of experienced, well-trained instructors. This co-ed volleyball program emphasizes fun and development through modified equipment and a variety of games.
Youth Academy is offered year-round on a seasonal basis: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
These are eight-week sessions that conclude with a season-ending tournament, providing an exciting and rewarding experience for participants.

Continuing a Tradition of Excellence
Volleyball Calgary’s Elite Academy continues a tradition of excellence that Luc Tremblay established with elite volleyball clubs in Winnipeg. These programs have developed some of the best young athletes in the country, producing competitive teams for both provincial and national championships.
Our Elite Camps are held seasonally during the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. They are designed for intermediate to advanced athletes looking to take their game to the next level. Open to both boys and girls, these camps may be co-ed or gender-specific, depending on the session.
Elite Camps are offered year-round on a seasonal basis: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
Led by experienced instructors, these fast-paced camps keep all athletes actively engaged. They offer an excellent opportunity for athletes considering club volleyball to connect with our coaches and other players who are interested in pursuing club-level competition.
At our Elite Volleyball Academy, athletes can expect more personalized attention and a higher volume of touches. These camps focus on refining advanced techniques, improving skills, and learning advanced team strategies. Athletes attending should already have a solid volleyball background, as the emphasis is on skill enhancement—not basic fundamentals.
